Beloved,
We just had the Super Bowl. It feels better to win than lose any time. But what’s best is to win in love. That is God’s way. Winning is not everything, loving is! Winning is everything only if you are playing against the devil!
When the devil tells you they will think you are a fanatic go ahead and share Jesus anyway. Win! When he tells you they do not deserve to be forgiven, trounce him and forgive them anyway. When he tells you not to give what God has told you to, defeat him in that game…give exactly as God says to do. Defeat the devil in those games as badly as you can. Slap him around! When it comes to playing against the devil losing is simply not an option!
Card games with the family? Bonding should be the goal. Pick up game of tennis, basketball, etc.? Exercise should be the goal. Certainly, if you’re a professional athlete, you’re paid to win, but even then you must play and win in love without purposing to physically hurt or humiliate the opponent.
If we win the game, any game, but we didn’t win it in love, it profits us nothing! 1 Corinthians 13:3.
