Beloved,
We are continuing to learn lessons from the Christmas story. The story also teaches us to follow the advice of our experts until and unless God says different!
The advice of experts may be wrong, not good enough, incomplete or outdated! In this case, it was incomplete!
The experts, the Chief priests and scribes, told Herod and Herod told the Magi that Bethlehem is where they would find Jesus.
But, that was old news.
Jesus had been born in Bethlehem, but had left Bethlehem, gone to Jerusalem, being presented at the Temple and was back home in Nazareth.
But the Magi did not know that so they set out to go to Bethlehem as the experts had said. However, when they received God’s directions by way of the star, they were willing to abandon the advice of the experts and go instead to Nazareth, where they found king Jesus! Matthew 2:1-11.
Have you been following expert, or any other advice for that matter, even though it contradicts God’s word?
