Beloved,
Yet another lesson from the Christmas story. How many Magi were there? The correct answer is, we don’t know. If you said 3, that would be religious tradition.
The Bible mentions 3 gifts, not 3 Magi. More than likely there was a caravan of the Magi, including a security detail to protect them and their stuff. Remember from the story of the Good Samaritan that there were roadway thieves in those days. Luke 10:30-36.
Beware, beloved, religious tradition can be quite harmful. For example, “God helps those who help themselves” promotes religious self-righteousness. The Bible doesn’t say that, it says God helps those who ask Him for help. Matthew 7:7.
“Jesus was poor” promotes poverty. How can a poor person feed thousands of people on more than one occasion? Mark 8:19, 20.
Be a BEREAN everyday and live in GOSHEN everyday!
